Siege – Brian Michael Bendis

Probably one of the greatest minds in comicdom is Brian Michael Bendis. His take over of Marvel is almost complete. The last seven years has brought us to the culmination of a story of monumental proportions to the Marvel Universe. He has orchestrated all major story lines to the Siege of Asgard and the end of the Dark Reign to the Heroic Age at Marvel. This was no easy matter to take the stories Avengers Disassembled, House of M, Decimation, Secret War, Civil War, All Avengers titles, World War Hulk, Secret…

Amazing Spider-Man She’s Back

Peter Parker (Spider-Man) has a certain redhead in his life again Mary Jane Watson. Peter is surrounded by beautiful women but there is something special about Mary Jane. Oh yea, that’s right they were married and very much in love once upon a time. The “One More Day” storyline changed all that, Mary Jane sacrificed all that to save Aunt May’s life. Peter and Mary Jane’s marriage was erased from history and every-one’s memories by the demon Mephisto. Still wonder even in Marvel how Mephisto would have powers that great but…

Solomon Grundy 7 part series has to be one of this years sleeper story line in the comic world. He returns to Gotham City, but is shot by police after attacking a charity worker. In the police morgue, he transforms into Solomon Grundy. Legion of 3 Worlds

Finally we are getting the Final – Final Crisis story months after the main story has ended, coming July 22 at your nearest comic store. This story is interesting because it is about Superboy-Prime and his campaign against the future Legion of Super-Heroes plus the development of the identity of the Time-Trapper and his hatred of the Legion and everything Superman. I am frustrated by how long it has taken DC to release the comic. But I think it was held to put make more interest in the new release…

Final Crisis

Final Crisis is a seven-issue comic book limited series published by DC Comics in 2008 and 2009 and written by Grant Morrison. It was amazing in it’s scope and a real shake up of the DC Universe. It has major characters dying and the creation of new characters and many tie-ins from all heroes and bad guys. Well worth the read but so much is happening you may have to read again to get all the dimensions of action. Crossover titles help tell the whole story. DC really can go…

Death of Batman RIP

Well they did it they killed Batman it looks very real- On that final page of Final Crisis #6, we see Superman carrying Batman’s dead and skeletonized/mummified body – the condition of which is due to being hit by Darkseid’s Omega Sanction. This is as big as the Death of Captain America. Batman the second most popular character in DC world could send shock waves with comic readers. Morrison has left a hole in the DC universe that will be impossible to fill. Is Bruce Wayne really dead it really…

2008 Comics Review

I did not think that the Marvel comic world could top 2007 in shaking things up with Civil War, World War Hulk, One More Day Spider-Man, and of course the death of an Icon: Captain America but they did a fair Job with A Brand New Day story line with Spider-Man without Mary Jane in his life. Plus the restart of the series with Thor and Asgard written by J. Michael Straczynski an outstanding writer. And the restart of the Hulk series introducing the Red Hulk a meaner more sinister Hulk written…

The Dark Knight

On July 18 comes the second installment of the movie do over of Batman “The Dark Knight” it features Heath Ledger as the Joker in this Christopher Nolan directed film. Very well promoted film it is set to make well over 100 million in tickets the first weekend already a sellout in many theaters. I will see this film and comment on it’s content later but I wanted to say that I can already see the influence of the comic version of this Icon in American life in the film.…

Thor #9 Review

J. Michael Straczynski has written a masterful recreation of Asgard with Thor, Balder, Loki and all the wonderful characters from Marvel Norse Mythology. And Olivier Copiel, Mark Morales, Danny Miki have captured the flavor and greatness of Asgard in their art. The Norse Gods should be bigger than life in story and visual art and I really enjoy the direction Straczynski is going with the surprises of a female Loki and the return of Doctor Blake. Plus he includes a story about the fate of his father Odin. A good…

Hellboy II Preview

Hellboy II This movie looks great and it’s unfortunate that it won’t get as much publicity as the new Batman flick. The creatures look incredible and if any of you haven’t seen Pan’s Labyrinth then you’re missing out! Yes, it’s in subtitles for those of you who don’t speak Espanol, but it’s an incredible movie. The creatures in it are certainly reflected here in the new Hellboy film. I’m actually looking forward to seeing this one more than the new Batman movie. Ok, so I’m looking forward to both. Here…

Secret Invasion #2

Secret Invasion #2 slows the story down a little to tell about a battle between an older (classic) version of Avengers or Heroes against the later Avengers of today in the Savage Land T-Rex and all. It leaves you wondering who is the Scrull and who is the real hero. Will the real Spider-Man please stand up. Don’t know what marvel has in mind with this series is it just a good story or does Brian Bendis and Quesada have an agenda in mind. Lets see: Civil War to Kill Captain…
