The Dark Knight

On July 18 comes the second installment of the movie do over of Batman “The Dark Knight” it features Heath Ledger as the Joker in this Christopher Nolan directed film. Very well promoted film it is set to make well over 100 million in tickets the first weekend already a sellout in many theaters. I will see this film and comment on it’s content later but I wanted to say that I can already see the influence of the comic version of this Icon in American life in the film. One of the keys in the Marvel success stories of films was the direct participation of the creative teams within Marvel and the transfer of that character to the film.

Unlike the Batman TV series staring Adam West and the movie series began by Michael Keaton it never caught the flavor of the Bob Cane the creator of Batman. Bob Cane (who did character development) had direct involvement with the new onscreen Batman. The other work before this was just Hollywood glamor and re write. The pure comic reader and Bob Cane Batman fan will appreciate this film I am sure. I did not pre purchase tickets but I will see this film as soon as I can with the anticipation of something special. One Thought to “The Dark Knight”

Well it is time to comment on this blockbuster movie The Dark Knight. What a great time this is to see my childhood favorites come to the big screen with such quality and powerful story. Batman is as he should be in this movie a hero icon with mystery and flare. Very human and yet above the usual scrutiny of normal people because he is very above normal. He has a moral strenth that is extraordinary and gets the most out of his abilities. We learned in this story that he is not the flip side of the Joker in personality but even more a complicated person than the Villains he fights. Great acting all around a movie event that will go down in movie history as one of the best. While a little long in lenth this in my judgement was the best movie of 2008. Stay tuned comic faithful for MORE, Walt
