DC Comics Profits Down in 2015

Bleeding Cool is reporting that DC Comics is down over 2 million dollars for their financial year beginning in 2015. Reasons cited include the cost from moving the offices from New York to Burbank were higher than expected as well as the poor performance from the less than stellar Convergence event series and tie-ins, in addition to the post-Convergence relaunch doing all that not great. Fox has committed to the pilot for a League of Extraordinary Gentlemen TV series. Various Hollywood trade sites are reporting that Fox has committed to a “put pilot,” which means the network has agreed to produce the pilot episode. Comic Con 2012: The Judge Dredd World Premiere

Lionsgate and the Masters of the Web panel co-sponsored the world premiere of Dredd 3D to a packed house at San Diego Comic Con Wednesday night. The Great Joe Kubert Dies

Joe Kubert, a legend in the world of comic book art and founder of the school in Dover that bears his name, has died. He was 85. Kubert, who lived in Dover, died Sunday at Morristown Medical Center, following a short illness. He is best known for his work on the DC Comics characters Sgt. Rock and Hawkman. His sons, Andy Kubert and Adam Kubert, have themselves become successful comic-book artists. Marvel Comics was the leading publisher in Retail Dollar and Unit Market Shares based on total sales of comics, graphic novels and magazines to comic book specialty stores in 2011, according to Diamond Comic Distributors. Justice League #1 was the top seller for the year, with more than 230,000 copies sold to North American retailers across several printings.
