DC Comics Profits Down in 2015

Bleeding Cool is reporting that DC Comics is down over 2 million dollars for their financial year beginning in 2015. Reasons cited include the cost from moving the offices from New York to Burbank were higher than expected as well as the poor performance from the less than stellar Convergence event series and tie-ins, in addition to the post-Convergence relaunch doing all that not great. DC also offered their comics to be returnable, which has only added to the problem, as obviously the issues are not selling and retailers are…

Bat-mobile Info-graphics 75 Years Old

After 75 years of omnipresence, one can make a very strong case that the Batmobile is the most iconic automobile in all of pop culture history. Since Batman’s debut back in 1939’s “Detective Comics” #27, the caped crusader has always relied on a car — usually a stylish, feature-loaded one — to get him from his cave to crime scenes. As a crucial part of the Bat-mythos, the Batmobile — dubbed such in 1941’s “Detective Comics” #48 — has appeared in everything from comics and cartoons to films and video…

Silver Surfer #10 Review

I have read Silver Surfer stories for years and enjoyed them from the time since Norrin Radd first came to earth in Fantastic Four #48 in March 1966. Galactus hunger drove him to devour and absorber the power and substance of a planet. Norrin’s sacrifice saved his planet homeworld Zenn-La but condemned him to search the heavens using his Cosmic powers to find more planets…

Amazing Spider-Man 14 Review

As a whole, Spider-verse may be Marvel’s best attempt at an event comic in years. The core premise and conflict engrossing. the way it celebrates Spider-Man’s long, colorful history is delightful. Even the tie-ins tend to be well-crafted and very relevant to the core storyline. That said, there have been flaws with the approach to Spider-verse, and those flaws threaten to derail the whole experience in this final issue. Amazing Spider-Man #14 is almost entirely consumed by the final battle between the surviving Spiders and the Inheritors. Everyone’s path finally…
