Timothy Dalton Cast as DOOM PATROL’s CHIEF

Timothy Dalton has been cast as Dr. Niles “The Chief” Caulder for DC Universe’s Doom Patrol. “Genius. Visionary. Accomplished. Eccentric. Maybe a little insane,” reads DC Universe’s description of the role. “Dr. Niles Caulder, known more informally as ‘the Chief,’ is the wheelchair-bound scientist who traditionally leads the quirky band of heroes called the Doom Patrol. BRENDAN FRASER Cast in DOOM PATROL

Brendan Fraser has been cast as the voice of Robotman in DC Universe’s Doom Patrol series. In the DC comic books, Robotman is Cliff Steele, a stunt driver whose brain is implanted in a robot body following a near-fatal accident. DC confirmed the casting, saying Robotman had “found his voice.” Deadline reports that Fraser will also appear in flashbacks as Cliff Steele, while actor Riley Shanahan will portray Robotman’s physical presence. DOOM PATROL Series Coming to DC Streaming Service #doompatrol

Executive producers Greg Berlanti, Geoff Johns, Jeremy Carver, and Sarah Schechter are developing a live-action Doom Patrol series to debut on the upcoming DC Universe streaming app. The series will be written by Jeremy Carver. The original Doom Patrol first appeared in My Greatest Adventure #80 (June 1963) just about the same time Marvel introduced the original X-Men. Writers Arnold Drake (who was the feature’s regular scripter) and Bob Haney, artist Bruno Premiani, and editor Murray Boltinoff are generally credited as the team’s creators.
