The announcement states the new Spider-Man will debut in an as-yet undisclosed Marvel Studios film, with a co-produced Spider-Man solo film following on July 28, 2017. Sony will still finance, distribute and own the Spidey solo films, along with retaining final creative control. This past Tuesday afternoon Spider-Man writer Dan Slott tweeted this warning to Marvel readers: “Set your watch. Your next Spider-Man related freak out is on the way.” Slott wasn’t just whistling Dixie. Marvel has premiered their latest “Summer 2015” teaser (which we’re still convinced are all related to Secret Wars) and it’s another callback to an iconic and now controversial moment in Spider-Man history – his wedding to Mary Jane Watson in 1987’s Amazing Spider-Man Annual #21, undone in 2007’s One More Day storyline … but with a twist. Lightning can strike twice — and so, apparently, can radioactive spiders. Marvel Comics is introducing a brand new character, a mysterious female super powered figure named Silk, in this Wednesday’s Amazing Spider-Man #1. And though she’s brand new, her origin is familiar to comic book fans. That’s because her spider-based powers come from the same irradiated arachnid as the one that changed the course of Peter Parker’s life. “The spider lived long enough to bite one more person,” explains writer Dan Slott. “When I pitched that idea at one of…
