David Ayer Reacts to Negative Reviews

When noon struck on Aug. 2, the Suicide Squad review embargo ended, bringing a whole new wave of critical scorn and disappointment from fans upon DC. While it didn’t take long for a gloomy picture to get painted on Rotten Tomatoes, it didn’t take long for writer/director David Ayer to defend his film either. Ayer first responded on Twitter by repeating a quote from Mexican revolutionary Emiliano Zapta, translating to “I’d prefer to die on my feet than to live on my knees.” Ayer then tweeted in English without quoting…

Since the first look at Jared Leto’s Joker from Suicide Squad debuted (along with the defaced Robin costume from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) there has been a fan theory with growing popularity: the Clown Prince of Crime is actually the former Boy Wonder gone bad. What began as simple postulating online quickly gained traction, but director David Ayer is here to derail that train. Speaking with WSVN-TV, Ayer shot down the fan theory when asked what the most ridiculous rumor he heard about Suicide Squad was. “It ain’t…

Netflix Defenders Lineup Marvel Trailers

When Marvel announced in 2013 that Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist would get their own TV shows on Netflix, it was also revealed that the heroes would eventually team up in a Defenders miniseries. To the causal Marvel fan, the chance of seeing a superhero team besides the Avengers is exciting, but hardcore comic book fans know that the MCU’s Defenders are different than the earlier iterations from the comics. However, using street-level heroes rather than the original set of members makes sense in terms of how…

Marvel Civil War II #3 Review

I loved Mark Millar’s Civil War series in 2006–2007 with art by Steven McNiven. It had everything you would want in a cross over superhero comic extravaganza. The act arose due to public pressure for accountability following a series of superhuman-related events causing significant damage and death within the Marvel universe. Tony Stark, the superhero Iron Man, who had…
