Silver Surfer #1 2011 Preview

Fantastic Four #50

The Silver Surfer is a Marvel Comics superhero created by Jack Kirby. The character first appears in Fantastic Four #48 (March 1966), the first of a three-issue arc that fans call “The Galactus Trilogy”. Originally, Norrin Radd, a young astronomer of the planet Zenn-La, made a bargain with the cosmic entity Galactus, pledging to serve as his herald in order to save his home world from destruction. Imbued in return with a portion of Galactus’ Power Cosmic, Galactus also created for Radd a surfboard-like craft – modeled after a childhood fantasy of his — on which he would travel at speeds beyond that of light.

Galactus’ herald has been seen lately in the pages of Fantastic Four, but the wielder of the power cosmic is set to make his presence felt even further. From Marvel Comics, best-selling writer Greg Pak and artist Stephen Segovia, the Silver Surfer returns in February starring in a new five issue mini-series that promises to challenge Norrin Radd with his most difficult battle yet. Looks like the High Evolutionary plays a key role in one of Marvel’s favorite interstellar heroes. Almost unlimited power the Silver Surfer is one the most powerful being in Marvel, what could challenge him to his limits. Maybe the limits of the soul and the human side of Norrin Radd. We will see. I say be there or be left out. Keep the date February 16, 2011 at the comics shop. See you there. Stay tuned comic faithful for more. 🙂 Walt
