The Star Brand is back in Avengers 8

Star Brand 1
Star Brand 1

The Star Brand is back in the Marvel Universe proper and has found itself a brand new bearer. You’ll meet him or her in this preview of Avengers #8.  Johnathan Hickman writer and artist Dustin Weaver bring the Star Brand back to the Marvel Universe. In October of 1986 writer Jim Shooter and artist John Romita, Jr. in brought to us Star Brand #1 a comic in something called The New Universe by Marvel Comics. The original Star Brand is a star-shaped tattoo-like mark that first appeared in the comic book series Star Brand, published by Marvel Comics as a part of its New Universe, The Star Brand gave its bearer infinite, god-like powers, limited only by the wielder’s imagination. After the end of the series and the New Universe imprint, the Star Brand made appearances in Marvel’s main shared universe, the Marvel Universe.

The most easily attainable powers of the Star Brand are flight, incredible strength, invulnerability and the ability to unleash blasts of destructive energy, up to the equivalent of a nuclear explosion in force, the brand makes the bearer immortal, preserving him from aging and reviving and regenerating his body upon their violent death. The power of the Star Brand must be called up by the bearer’s will which seems to be it’s only limitation. I think it is interesting that the writer Johnathan Hickman would go back in Marvel History and bring back one one the most infinite powerful sources. It will be some thing to see how it’s new wearer response to it’s power. See the pages below for a preview right here at Comics Talk, stay tuned comic faithful for more. 🙂 Walt
