RUFFALO On HULK Solo Film

So what exactly is the hold-up on a Hulk movie? According to actor Mark Ruffalo, two studios don’t get a long. While disagreements make for high drama in hero vs. hero movies like Captain America: Civil War and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, it is preventing a Hulk movie from getting made — despite both studios wanting it to happen.

“I think they’ve been working on it,” Ruffalo told Yahoo! Movies. “Marvel and Universal famously don’t get along very well, and so that’s working against us, definitely. But I know for a fact that everyone is holding out hope that one day we can do it. But the nature of the relationship right now, it’s a little prohibitive. And I hope that that changes, that changes with regimes, it changes over the course of time. But right now it doesn’t look particularly promising.”

Ruffalo also cited the relationship between Marvel and Sony, which has allowed Spider-Man to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, saying “I think ultimately that’s what they’re after, it working out for both sides. But like I said, Marvel and Universal are just not having a good time together right now.”

Finally, Ruffalo lamented being left out of Captain America: Civil War, saying Marvel was “saving him,” and revealed that, while the script for Hulk’s next appearance, Thor: Ragnarok, was not yet complete, it would begin filming in June 2016.
