The Fantastic Four, Marvel Entertainment’s iconic superhero team, has been missing in action since their long-running title was canceled in 2015 after 645 issues amid rumors of discord between Marvel (a division of Walt Disney) and 20th Century Fox, which owns the film rights to the property. But today Marvel Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulksi announced that Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Sue Richards (The Invisible Woman), Johnny Storm (The Human Torch) and Ben Grimm (The Thing) will reunite in a new ongoing series written by long-time Spider-Man writer Dan Slott and drawn by Sara Pichelli, set to debut in August.
Cebulski said the company was waiting for the “right creative team to become available,” and has announced Dan Slott, who recently concluded a ten-year run as writer on Spider-Man, will team up with Italian artist Sara Pichelli (Ultimate Spider-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy) for the re-launched first issue.
The new series looks to be part of the “Fresh Start” reboot announced by Marvel in February, as Cebulski, who took over as Editor-in-Chief from Axel Alonso in November 2017, continues to make his creative mark on the company.
