Sonequa Martin-Green Plays Number One

Sonequa Martin-Green, well known to genre fans for her role on AMC’s mega-hit The Walking Dead, has been cast as the lead of Star Trek: Discovery, sources tell EW.

The casting ends meticulous search to find the ideal actress to anchor the eagerly anticipated new CBS All Access drama. Martin-Green will play a lieutenant commander on the Discovery.

Doug Jones will play Lt. Saru, a Starfleet Science Officer and a new alien species to the Star Trek universe.

Michelle Yeoh will play Captain Georgiou, the Starfleet Captain aboard the Starship Shenzhou.

Anthony Rapp will play Lt. Stamets, an astromycologist, fungus expert, and Starfleet Science Officer aboard the Starship Discovery.

Star Trek: Discovery Reveals Klingon Characters Chris Obi, Shazad Latif, and Mary Chieffo have joined the cast.
Battle stations! Star Trek: Discovery, which premieres on CBS in 2017 before moving exclusively to CBS All Access, has revealed three additional cast members set to play Klingons on the new series: Chris Obi, Shazad Latif, and Mary Chieffo.

Chris Obi will play T’Kuvma, the Klingon leader seeking to unite the Klingon houses.

Shazad Latif will play Kol, the Commanding Officer of the Klingons and protégé of T’Kuvma.

Mary Chieffo will play L’Rell, the Battle Deck Commander of the Klingon ship.

Star Trek: Discovery is set to premiere with a “special preview broadcast” on CBS in May 2017, with that pilot and all subsequent first-run episodes to then be streamed weekly in the United States on CBS All Access. The premiere was originally set for January 2017.
