There is a Rumored Aquaman Post-Credits Scene

Following a breathtaking look at the first Aquaman trailer, fans also got news that Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) won’t die in the movie. While it’s not the first time a villain survives a superhero film, it was a bit of a shock to hear the news so early. Now, new rumors are suggesting Jame Wan’s post-credits sequence will indeed be setting up a bigger role for the villain in the future.

According to Discussing Film, Manta will be aligning or at least meeting Dr. Stephen Shin (Randall Park) in the scene to plot a way forward in taking down Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa). Created by Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis for the New 52 comics in 2011, Shin was a marine biologist friend of Arthur’s father, Thomas, who tried to help the Aquaman unlock his powers.

He’d go on to betray the King of Atlantis, angry that Arthur wouldn’t reveal the secrets of the sea kingdom to him. In the books, he partnered with Manta to try to take the superhero down, and eventually, the entirety of Atlantis. He also ran afoul of Mera (to be played by Amber Heard), who deemed him a sad soul for his bitter mentality.

With Manta and King Orm (Patrick Wilson) set to go after Aquaman, fans are eager to see just how the former survives the battle ahead, and who else joins his crusade in future films.

Directed by James Wan, Aquaman stars Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Ocean Master, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Temuera Morrison as Thomas Curry, and Dolph Lundgren as Nereus. It is scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 21. (info via cbr.com and Renaldo Matadeen)
