MEDIA RELEASE: Not much is known about the new Green Lantern being introduced to readers with September’s Green Lantern #0, after the apparent ominous events of August’s Green Lantern Annual #1, but at least now we can put a name to the face … or at least a name to the face mostly hidden by a mask. According to a solicitation of October’s Green Lantern #13, found on Diamond’s retailer website, his name is apparently Baz. This is how the description is listed on the DC website:
• “Rise of the Third Army”!• Earth’s new Green Lantern battles The Justice League!
• Meanwhile, The Guardians begin their final step in the destruction of the Lanterns by releasing the first of the Third Army soldiers!
Baz, presumably co-created by writer Geoff Johns and artist Doug Mahnke, apparently plays a prominent role in the DC Universe for the foreseeable future, as a key figure in the upcoming Green Lantern titles event Rise of the Third Army, and then if this teaser is to be believed, again in the larger DC Universe event Trinity War. So does the name “Baz” mean anything to you DC readers? Does it have any significance to the DC Universe? Well Baz is first seen in a peak into the future during the Trinity War, angrily chasing Batman who is in possession of Pandora’s Box, until Superman attacks him, while other heroes fight amongst themselves. Prior to the Trinity War, Baz was seen by Sinestro and Hal Jordan thanks to visions given to them by the The Book of the Black while trying to find out how the Guardians of the Universe planned to replace the Green Lantern Corps. Looks like things are really going to heat up in the New 52.
