As a boy of seven I spent a sleepless night myself after watching the movie “Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956)”. Kevin McCarthy plays a small-town doctor who learns that the population of his community is being replaced by emotionless alien duplicates. McCarthy does a great job of selling the hysteria of such an alien encounter. Although by modern standards the movie is not full of shock and gore, for its time it is a great “B” movie experience. On the last week before the release of the Man Of Steel movie which premiers on June 14th I thought a look back at the Christopher Reeve’s Superman, Richard Donner directed movie in 1978. Superman: The Movie was considered a success with over 300 million made globally and the cost of 58 million.
