Stockton-Con at the University of the Pacific Spanos Center

Coming this August 5th at the University of the Pacific’s Spanos Center in Stockton California. This beautiful UOP campus will host the first Comic and Pop Culture Event of this kind brought to the central valley area. The day-long event, which will feature exhibits from artists, fans dressed as their favorite pop culture icons, several game tournaments and more. Proceeds from the event will benefit St. Mary’s Dining Room and United Way.

“I’ve been attending numerous comic-book and pop-art conventions for years, including Comic-Con, Sac-Con, Wonder-Con and APE (Alternative Press Expo) and wanted to bring a similar event to Stockton,” said Mike Millerick, director of Stockton-Con. “But I wanted to make the event focused on Stockton to show support for our local artists, our local pop-culture fans and to raise money and awareness for the great work of St. Mary’s Dining Hall.” The featured guest of honor will be Morrie Turner, the creator of “Wee Pals,” a comic strip that was established in 1965 and today is published in more than 100 daily newspapers. Other speakers will be highlighted throughout the day, including a session on costuming.
