Neil Gaiman’s Death in Action Comics?

The October issue of Action Comics 894 will feature a character ripped from the pages of Neil Gaiman’s 1990′s cult favorite The Sandman.

Gaiman’s Death

For those unfamiliar with the character at the center of the cover – and shame on you if you don’t know who that is – that’s Death, sister to Dream of the Endless and one of the most enduring characters introduced during Gaiman’s 75-issue SANDMAN series. Beautifully presented by ACTION COMICS cover artist David Finch, the cover begs the question – what is Death doing in ACTION COMICS?

Having just read that issue I will attempt to answer that question.  She is messing with Lex Luther. His reaction to the meeting was hilarious. He went from denial that she was really Death to bargaining with her for his life to getting emotional.  It was great to see a selfish psychopathic villein react to her manipulations.  She really had fun with him. A must read. The art work is great, panels really tell the story well. The interaction between the two characters is very well done.

It is a light-hearted look at the big door we all must walk through. And Lex does not fair too well. It is nice to read just a good story not involving the end of the world. Pick a copy up if you still can, and tell me what you think. I will see you at the comic shop. Stay tuned comic faithful for more. 🙂 Walt

Death is my favorite Gaiman character it was nice to see her in mainstream DC Universe perhaps she will make more appearances. Endless characters are in many ways more interesting than the Guardians of Green Lantern fame having existed for eons.
