10 Most Anticipated Movies of 2016: #9

Star Trek Beyond is the thirteenth film in the Star Trek film franchise and the third installment in the reboot series. The film is directed by Justin Lin from a screenplay by Simon Pegg, Doug Jung, Roberto Orci, John D. Payne and Patrick McCay. With the mixed/polarizing reception to Star Trek: Into Darkness and J.J. Abrams jumping starship completely for Star Wars, the solid ground the franchise was on after the 2009 reboot Star Trek fans are hoping for a return to greatness just seven years later. 

The first trailer did not help even optimistic fans but still anticipate something good in July. Looks like the Enterprise is destroyed again in the movie, maybe that and the good story will improve the hopes and enjoyment in watching the crew of Star Trek on the big screen.

Trekkers have been in this sort of uneasy space before – and have survived far leaner times – we are putting the film in the 9th spot in anticipation for 2016. We’ll see if Star Trek can boldly go where good movies are in the movie universe.
