It’s time to let the devil out. Marvel’s Daredevil is here to clean up the streets of Hell’s Kitchen, New York. Lawyer by day, street-level hero by night, Matt Murdock is on a mission to make his city a better place against an underground terror within the city. All episodes arrive only on Netflix, April 10th.
The first in a planned series of shows on TV detailing the Marvel universe, “Daredevil” follows Matt Murdock, attorney by day and vigilante by night. Blinded in an accident as a child, Murdock uses his heightened senses as Daredevil, fighting crime on the streets of New York after the sun goes down. His efforts are not welcomed by powerful businessman Wilson Fisk — aka Kingpin — and others whose interests collide with those of Daredevil. Though Murdock’s day job portrays a man who believes in the criminal justice system, his alter ego suggests otherwise, as he takes the law into his own hands to protect his Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood and the surrounding communities.
While the Avengers are fighting Ultron and Loki and ultimately Thanos, Daredevil is fighting for New York Hell’s Kitchen against the crime syndicate led by Wilson Fisk who will use any means he can to control the vision he has for New York. Fisk uses his money to buy influence in the police department and Judges plus local and federal government. Everything seems to be against Matt Murdock the son of a fighter who’s motto was Murdochs never give up.
The 13 episodes chronicle the rise to power of the Kingpin of crime and the ultimate showdown between Daredevil and him. Also the story shares the origin of both men and how they chose the path of action that brings them against each other. Charlie Fox is a compelling Matt Murdock who has a battle going on inside himself against his Catholic beliefs and the rage to cross that line and kill those who have murdered the ones he loved. Also this partner and fellow attorney Foggy Nelson played by Elden Henson plays a large part in helping Murdock grasp what it means to be a lawyer in Hell’s Kitchen and Daredevil at the same time.
The TV Series rated TV-MA is hard hitting for mature audiences and shows crime an ugly part of society that destroys peoples lives. Producers Drew Goddard and Jeph Loeb have put together something that tells the Matt Murdock story very well and shows that one man can stand against overwhelming odds and can succeed. Needless to say we recommend this series by Marvel. Stay tuned to Comics Talk for more comic faithful. 🙂 Walt
