Captain Marvel Is The Most Powerful Hero In The Marvel Cinematic Universe Says Feige

The age old debate of most powerful super hero always comes down to two names: Superman and The Hulk. While Superman may remain the strongest in the DC films, The Hulk doesn’t win this fight on the Marvel side of things.

According to the head of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, Captain Marvel wears the belt in this universe.

In an interview with IGN, Kevin talked a bit about the inclusion of the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He spoke about the importance of hiring a female director for the film, and then he mentioned that her origin story will be slightly changed.

Since Carol Danvers’ story is very similar to Green Lantern’s, Marvel thought it would be best to change it up. Writers Nicole Perlman and Meg LeFauve have altered Captain Marvel’s origin enough that it not only sets her apart from other popular heroes, but it gives her the ability to be the strongest hero in the Marvel films.

Kevin had this to say regarding the new origin:

“What is one of the coolest things about it is she will be by far the most powerful character we’ve ever introduced in the movie. ‘How do you find those limitations? How do you find those vulnerabilities?’ is something that is sort of at the crux of the story that we’re putting together. She has — as you know from the comics — an interesting story, and I think we have a very cool and unique way of telling that story. I don’t think it’s leaked yet exactly what we’re doing with her movie or how we’re doing it, but it will be cool. She will prove to be a very important character in our universe for all the movies.”

This new version of Carol Danvers will have much more power than the one many fans are used to, as well as a bigger part in the universe than she has had for some time.

Feige mentioned that Captain Marvel would be one of the most important characters in the MCU going forward, and that means we should be prepared to see a lot of her. Much like the new comic storyline Civil War II, Danver’s will be front and center for many of Marvel’s affairs. Source IGN

Brie Larson will be starring as Captain Marvel, and her solo film is slated for release on March 8, 2019.
