Marvel TV Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was renewed for a sixth season, but won’t be aired until summer 2019 – after the as-yet-untitled Avengers 4.
“I feel the season we just had was creatively the strongest yet,” ABC President of Entertainment Channing Dungey said during ABC’s upfront presentation (via Deadline). “We don’t plan it as a final season. The show has a loyal passionate base. It does incredibly well in delayed viewing. By putting it in the summer we feel we can super-serve the show’s audience and possibly have it on the air longer.”
ABC didn’t disclose when exactly Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s sixth season would begin, but for the past two years, the network has premiered new seasons during the end of May.
Avengers 4 is scheduled for release May 3, 2019.
This may reflect the change in the MCU we will see after the events of Infinity War and Avengers 4 which may change Marvel cinema and TV for future installments and stories.
ABC has ordered 13 episodes for the upcoming season, down from previous seasons’ 22-episode orders.
