Reported Warner Bros. ‘Loves’ Matt Reeves’ Batman Script

It has been reported that Warner Bros. said they “love” the first draft of director Matt Reeves’ The Batman, Tweeted The Wrap’s Umberto Gonzalez on the 25th of September. Furthermore, Reeves is reportedly working on The Batman revisions at the moment, and the studio is said hoping for production to start in summer 2019.

The Tweet claimed that “the current DC regime is committed to getting this take on the Caped Crusader correct.” Actor Ben Affleck’s version of Bruce Wayne has not exactly played the world’s greatest detective which is something Matt Reeves said he wanted to portray on the screen.

We still don’t know how Reeves’ will handle this favorite DC hero, or if Affleck will reprise the superhero role or if he really wants to depart the DC Extended Universe. The DC Extended Universe has been said to operate under a “director-driven” mandate. While that may be in the past with Directors such as Zack Snyder, it appears to me that the WB will not religate full control to any single director in the future.

The direction of the franchise right or wrong will be managed closer from the ivory tower of studio heads than ever before. While they may reward success in moving-making in the future to directors like Patty Jenkins with more decision making power because of critically acclaimed movies like Wonder Woman, it remains to be seen how much control producers and directors will really have.
