DC Universe is Re-evaluated by AT&T & Warner Media

According to Deadline, the DC Universe streaming service is being “re-evaluated” by its parent company WarnerMedia. This news comes as the just-launched Swamp Thing live-action television series was canceled only 6 days into its first season. The series was under inspection by the producers who during filming cut the first season from 13 episodes to 10.

WarnerMedia is focusing on a larger, overall streaming platform. “There have been questions how DC Universe fits into those plans,” writes Deadline’s Co-Editor-in-Chief Nellie Andreeva, but we don’t know what that means for the future of the DC Universe streaming service.

The DC Universe launched 10 months ago but during that time AT&T acquired Time Warner and began a re-organization of the company’s various divisions. The streaming service has met with mixed success in that time and many people question if it can stand by itself or needs to be part of the new WarnerMedia streaming service with an estimated late 2019 launch date.

How it will merge members of the DC Universe with a possible new WarnerMedia is unknown at this time. Needless to say, many DC fans that are watching the current DC Universe service are wondering what the future will hold in programming.
