Media Release — As superhero storytelling has exploded in popularity in recent years on both the big and small screens and in children’s publishing, DC is pleased to introduce brand-new imprints dedicated to storytelling for kids!
DC Books for Young Readers brings the iconic superheroes of DC Entertainment to graphic novels for both middle-grade and young adult readers. With world-class authors lending their expertise in reaching readers from these age groups and brand-new, standalone stories featuring the characters we know and love, these graphic novels will appeal to DC fans new and old.
DC Zoom targets ages 8-12 with stories that focus on external issues, helping readers explore and understand the world around them. Librarians tell us that DC titles are a great tool to engage reluctant young readers, and DC Zoom makes our characters accessible with new, out-of-continuity stories by kids’ favorite authors.
DC INK is for readers 13 and up, and features coming-of-age stories that encourage teens to ask themselves who they are and how they relate to others. DC Ink features storytelling that focuses on real-world situations and relatable characters who are not perfect but are nuanced and complex-just like our readers.
We hope you enjoy our first titles from these imprints, both solicited in the December DC Previews: MERA: TIDEBREAKER, from DC Ink, written by New York Times bestselling author Danielle Paige, and SUPER SONS BOOK ONE: THE POLARSHIELD PROJECT, from DC Zoom, written by New York Times bestselling author Ridley Pearson.
MERA: TIDEBREAKER ( DEC180508) is solicited in the December DC Previews with an on-sale date of March 27.
SUPER SONS BOOK ONE: THE POLARSHIELD PROJECT (DEC180509) is solicited in the December DC Previews with an on-sale date of March 27.
