Doomsday Coming to The New 52 DC Comics

Doomsday Annual 1995
Doomsday Annual 1995

Doomsday first appeared in Superman: The Man of Steel #18 (Nov. 1992) and was created by writer-artist Dan Jurgens. Doomsday’s character is portrayed as a mindless killing machine. Doomsday has no feelings or sentiments beyond unfocused hatred, murderous rage, and malicious joy at destruction. The character is best known as the killer of Superman in the 1992 story line, “The Death of Superman”. Doomsday will make his official debut in the New 52 of DC Comics in September as a part of “Villains Month”. This September will see Greg Pak and Brett Booth take on Doomsday for Villains month in Batman/Superman: Doomsday #3.1 which will be in 3D. Bob Harras (DC’s Editor-in-Chief) provided artist pictures of the beast and the cover the comic book. Bob Harras added:

But who is Doomsday? In The New 52, the legends surrounding this character have become stories told to terrify Kryptonians. Nobody knows who created him, where he comes from, or even dares to utter his name louder than in a whisper. But are the various myths about what the Doomsday creature is real? Was he really let loose on an army? And if nobody knows the truth behind this villain’s origin, is there really a way to stop him?
