Age of Ultron #1 is to feature a special foil cover at no additional design expense, Marvel Comics announced. Marvel has also revealed interior artwork from writer Brian Bendis’ new series, which features art from Bryan Hitch, Brandon Peterson and Carlos Pacheco. Age of Ultron will run for 10 issues, with Hitch illustrating the first five and Peterson and Pacheco dividing the remainder up between them. Three issues will be released in March and three in April, before the title becomes bi-weekly.
Marvel News: AGE OF ULTRON #1! This March, enter the darkest days of the Marvel Universe from the creative team of Brian Michael Bendis and Bryan Hitch. Evil has triumphed over good and leading this new age is none other than Ultron, the deadly sentient robot created by founding Avenger Hank Pym, who turned on his creator to achieve his twisted objective: the utter destruction of humanity. Now, it’s up to the few remaining heroes to band together and find any way to topple their new monarch. Can Wolverine, Emma Frost, Invisible Woman, Taskmaster, Beast, She-Hulk, Luke Cage, Spider-Man and Moon Knight turn the tide?
“Age of Ultron is about Ultron, one of our biggest villains ever, finally fulfilling his destiny, which is taking the Earth,” said Bendis. “From the very first page, Ultron has taken the Marvel Universe and everything is changed. There is a shocking amount of destruction and devastation. It started in Avengers, but it’s meant to be a Marvel Universe book. It starts everyone. This was never supposed to be my last Avengers story, it was always meant to be a Marvel Universe event.”
The character initially appeared in an unnamed cameo in Avengers #54 (1968), with a first full appearance in Avengers #55 (1968). Ultron was created by writer Roy Thomas and artist John Buscema. Ultron has a genius intellect, a capacity for creative intelligence and self-repair, superhuman cybernetic analytical capabilities, and the ability to process information and make calculations with superhuman speed and accuracy. The character is an expert roboticist and strategist. Ultron’s outer armor is usually composed of primary adamantium, which is almost completely impervious to damage. With the ability to make others like himself he can be a real force to recon with. Ultron has developed a hatred for Henry Pym his creator and humankind and is driven to control the world and rule all.
He is the perfect villain machine who has become a sentient being with great intelligence. In one panel of art work you see New York made in the image of Ultron. The destruction is great and the biggest most powerful heroes have been silenced or overcome. How will the nine heroes left turn the tide? Age of Ultron #1 ships in March this year.
