With Marvel’s Mega success of The Avengers Warner Bros. has revived the idea of having a Justice League movie. Writing has begun in earnest but that project has been in different stages of development for years. The Avengers movie was very well planned and started back with Iron Man in 2008 and was seeded in mystery by every movie produced since then till the result was brought to us this year in the blockbuster movie. It also had an outstanding acting core with great director in Joss Whedon, some one who understands Marvel and has success in film making before.
Will Warner Bros. use the same formula as Marvel in producing Justice League or start with the movie team up then make more movies staring Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Superman and other DC heroes. According to Variety, Warner Bros. is currently developing Justice League, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman, Green Arrow, Lobo, Suicide Squad and Shazam. Not Batman or Green Lantern which may get rebooted in the future. Christian Bale has suggested he’d come back as Batman if Christopher Nolan was involved, but Warner Bros. is thinking another reboot is in order.
As far as Green Lantern, Martin Campbell’s 2011 disappointment starring Ryan Reynolds, Variety’s report says Warner Bros. is already thinking of rebooting the franchise as opposed to just moving ahead with a sequel and bringing back Ryan Reynolds. I would like to see a sequel done right but that is in their hands. The Man of Steel, Zack Snyder‘s Superman movie set for release in 2013 seems like the perfect place to start the countdown to Justice League but it may only be a hopeful wish for me.
There are many questions that need to be answered in the coming months at Warner Bros. Can they do as good a job as Marvel in production of a Major team up of these great iconic heroes from DC? That remains to be seen. Stay tuned comic and movie faithful for more. 🙂 Walt
