Daimon Hellstrom, also known as the Son of Satan and Hellstorm, is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Daimon made his live-action debut in the Hulu television series Helstrom as the son of a serial killer along with his sister Ana. The siblings have a complicated dynamic relationship as they track down the terrorizing worst of humanity and the supernatural world. Daimon is played by Tom Austen and Ana by Sydney Lemmon.
The story has a fascinating plot — a serial killer’s abused children, all grown up and attempting to uncover the secrets of their past. The Helstrom children must join forces and overcome the animosity they feel towards each other because of their horrible childhood experiences to help their mother and crack the mystery of their father’s horrendous past. Their mother who is institutionally committed is the key in knowing a great evil that they will face but she is possessed by a powerful demon that can not be easily expelled.
Daimon and Ana both possess great power but reach their limits and must rely on each other because of the great evil that has been released. The acting is good but the story seems rushed at times and it takes a while before we know the character’s true emotional depth. In the end, I felt like I did not quite understand how we got to the conclusion I witnessed. Perhaps another viewing of the series will help.
I recommend viewing this very mature version of the occult world of Marvel because it introduces a part of the Marvel mythos which involved characters like Ghost Rider, Mephisto, Dormammu, the Hell-Lords, Satannish, and so much more. Doctor Strange is part of this world also but I don’t expect an appearance from him in the series. I am intrigued by the variety of Marvel programs that have been released and will be in the future and look forward to reviewing them for our readers.
