Action Comics #900 Gets A Second Print

Action Comics #900 (2nd Printing)

Action Comics #900 was a good issue the Lex Luthor story and the Doomsday tie in was very well done Paul Cornell is a good writer. I think it is obvious that DC Comics wants to make money so they are coming out with a second print. Release date is May 25 at comic stores. The fuss around the nine-page story by David Goyer in which Superman tells the American government that he’s going to renounce his citizenship so that his actions aren’t mistaken as an extension of US government foreign policy has rather energized the press.

I thought the story from Goyer was a good story that could have been widely accepted if he had not brought renouncing US citizenship in the content. There are so many other things Superman could have done to make a point to the government. Be that as it may, was he ever given US citizenship? The answer is yes. In the DC Superman origin story in December 1973 The Amazing World of Superman (Curt Swan, pencils, Carmine Infantino, colors, and E. Nelson Bridwell story) he is shown on the floor of the UN accepting an honorary citizenship of all counties within the UN members which would include the United States.

1973 Origin of Superman

If it was not so then Superman could not renounce anything he was never given. But the point most patriotic readers want to know if he truly is an international figure then why would he be beholding to the US. If he was right in his eyes for what he did then he should not have to renounce anything. As a icon of good that should be enough. I guess I will have to leave it there not knowing what the true intentions of DC Comics who according to the news released by DC to the NY Post and others they tried and put the story in context, pointing out that the story doesn’t show whether or not Superman would go through with his promise to renounce US citizenship to the UN.

I don’t know if the statement has any chance of cooling the emotions. But it is clear DC is going to make a ton of money on Action Comics #900 boycott or not. Time will tell how the Superman fans react and if DC wakes up to what is going on in the real world instead of the DC (Ideal) Universe. We will have to leave it there. Stay tuned comic faithful for more, 🙂 Walt
